Medial Branch Block is a procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of headaches; neck, shoulder, buttock, and hip pain; and upper, middle, and lower back pain. A numbing anesthetic is injected near the medial branch nerves of the neck, middle or lower back. The injection reduces pain by interrupting “pain signals” from the facet joints (small joints between backbone segments) to the brain.
