“It began with a tingling in my right hand, and an intense pain in my shoulder blade. And I have a high tolerance for pain. With my background in the medical field (I was a surgical technician who went back to school and recently opened my own Aesthetic Medicine practice), I knew it was a nerve issue, and that once it’s gone, you can’t get it back.

The progression of it became intense with repetitive motion. I fatigued easily. I got to the point where I couldn’t move. Funny, two years prior when I came in for a consultation, Dr. Hilgenhurst predicted, “you’ll be back in when you can’t move,” and that’s what it took.

I knew about Dr. Hilgenhurst’s reputation and, frankly, I wouldn’t trust just anyone with a needle, in this case, to be placed in my neck. His technique is phenomenal, and this is because of his extensive training. He was trained long before all of this wonderful new technology arrived, so he doesn’t rely on the equipment alone.

I see Dr. Hilgenhurst about every 6 months or so. I will get an injection in the afternoon, and by the next morning, I’m in great shape. He hits the target every time with exact precision. My pain goes from an 8 to a zero overnight. He’s just brilliant.”

“I had severe back pain and leg pain. Some days, I couldn’t even crawl out of the bed, my pain was so excruciating. I couldn’t drive; I couldn’t get my groceries. I was taking so much medication and had undergone three back surgeries. By the time I was referred to Dr. Hilgenhurst, I felt like I had been through it all.

Dr. Hilgenhurst was so helpful. He spent a lot of time with me in his office explaining everything that he was recommending. I was a bit scared, but he answered my every question, alleviating my fear. Once I went through the initial procedure, the relief was not immediate, but when it came, it made a total difference in my everyday life.

I really don’t feel pain now unless I overdo it in the yard – I do love my yard work. Now I can mow, and plant my flowers and bushes without pain. I’ve got my garden and my life back!”

“I was actually born with no cartilage between my vertebra, and some of the vertebra overlap so I have bone-on-bone. I’ve dealt with this pain all of my life and then one day, I got out of my truck and just went to the ground. I couldn’t move my leg; I had broken my tailbone and 8 vertebrae. Even after back surgery I was still in so much pain; I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t play with my daughter.

I started getting spinal injections at the age of 17. I’d been to 10 or 11 doctors for spinal injections before I met Dr. Hilgenhurst, and he is the only one who has injected the treatment into the right spot. I’ve been seeing him for a year and a half now, needing injections only about every two months or so.

When you are in pain every day, it’s tremendous how it affects you. You are in a bad mood, you are irritated all the time, and you get agitated really easily. Now that my pain is being managed with these injections, I feel normal again. My family is so much happier because I’m not in pain every day. For me, finding Dr. Hilgenhurst has been life changing.”

Dear Prospective Patient,

I would be honored to be your physician, and am pleased that you are considering Precision Pain Care as you evaluate the options for pain treatment.

Untreated pain – in addition to being debilitating – can lead to various health problems including depression, decreased mobility, high blood pressure, gastrointestinal problems, muscle fatigue and spasms, sleep difficulties, and a weakened immune system.

Early intervention is crucial, as important as accurately diagnosing the underlying source of your pain…a precision diagnosis means that treatment can more effectively provide relief. When treated promptly, the risk of additional damage to nerves, discs, and other structures is reduced in some conditions.

I have been treating pain for many years both as an anesthesiologist and an interventional pain management physician. My specialty is in diagnosing and treating neck and back pain, which may also present as radiating pain down the arms or legs. As an IPM physician, I specialize in minimally invasive procedures, including injections into and around the spine to treat the root cause of pain.
