Radiculopathy Treatment at Precision Pain Care
In order to effectively treat the symptoms of radiculopathy, patients are encouraged to enlist the services of a spine specialist. Radiculopathy occurs when a nerve becomes compressed as it exits the spinal column. This compression can result in a variety of different symptoms anywhere along the nerve, often leading to pain, tingling, numbness, and other disorders in parts of the body that are far away from the spinal column. This can make diagnosing the condition challenging without medical imagery and advanced training. At the Spine Center at Precision Pain Care, we have extensive experience working with patients who suffer from the symptoms of radiculopathy, and we may be able to help them manage or eliminate their pain.
In the spine, nerve roots branch off the spinal cord and exit the spinal column through passageways called foramina. The problem is that as we age, degenerative changes occur in the spinal column, which can result in these openings becoming constricted with herniated disc material, bone spurs, and other anatomical matter. When this happens, the nerves that normally pass through the foramina can become constricted, impeding their ability to function normally. This results in the symptoms of radiculopathy, which can include:
- Localized pain near the site of the compression
- Discomfort that radiates along the affected nerve
- Numbness and tingling in the extremities
- Muscle weakness or fatigue
- Diminished mobility
To help you with your discomfort and other symptoms, the team at Precision Pain Care offers state-of-the-art radiculopathy treatment. Dr. Graf Hilgenhurst founded the area’s first and only interventional surgery center, and he specializes in a number of minimally invasive, outpatient techniques that can provide relief from radiculopathy and other degenerative spine conditions. Founded by Dr. Hilgenhurst – a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain specialist – we prioritize providing patients with treatments that can help postpone or eliminate the need for traditional open-spine procedures, which often have high risks for surgical complications.
For information about the radiculopathy treatment options that we offer, contact us today and schedule a consultation. We’ll be glad to provide you with a physical examination to better understand your radiculopathy and explain how we may be able to help with one of our advanced techniques.
What to Expect During the Diagnosis and Treatment Process of Spine and Pain Conditions
For most people, the decision to see an Interventional Pain Anesthesiologist for spine and pain conditions is full of hope. Some patients may be a little apprehensive after years of pain, but knowing what to expect can help alleviate fear and adjust expectations.
Our goal over the course of your treatment is to listen intently, pinpoint pain precisely, and then provide a targeted treatment plan for your pain.
